The Womens Freedom Song Contest Launches!

The fourth year of the Womens Freedom Song Contest is accepting entries starting Dec. 19 to March 1, 2022! They are looking for the next “Female Anthem.” Do you have an inspiring song about women to share?

The contest is open to everyone who writes songs, (all genders too!),

If the song celebrates the power of a woman in one (or all) aspects of her glory, send it in. They are not looking for production and performance. Originality, melody and lyrics are the main judging criteria.

There is also a Music Video category and Lyric/Poem category. You are welcome to submit an “indie” music video with a “female theme,” (if you are not signed to a major label).  Foreign music videos are accepted with English subtitles. Lyrics and poems again should deal with some type of female empowerment theme.

There are some highly skilled judges this year, with some golden ears. Your music will be in front of Brent Backhus (recording engineer for The Whispers, John Lee Hooker, Solomon Burke), Sara Knight (Talent Mgmt. & Booking Agency), Ruth McCartney (a music and media entrepreneur), David Eaton (producer/engineer for Polyphonic Spree, Dynamite Hack, Archivist for top tier record label) and Diana Williamson (2 x #3 Billboard Hot Club Chart Writer, Author and CEO of The music library).

Some wonderful prize sponsors are on board, such as AirPlay Direct – Global Radio Marketing & Promotion, “The Music Registry,” in depth music directories, song pitch opportunities from “Broadjam,” the Indie Bible (directories) and the book 101 Tips and Tricks of Successful Songwriting.

The company has created two international song contests in the past and received entries from over 23 countries. One was voted “Top 10” by Music Connection Magazine. They are a group of hard working music professionals who want to hear, promote and discover some great music.

Winners will be announced on International Womens Day, March 8, 2022.

Forgiveness Plan Would Remove One-Third of Students’ Loan Debt

About one in three Idahoans who have federal student-loan debt would see it erased entirely if the Biden administration goes forward with a $10,000 forgiveness plan. That’s according to analysis from the website Student Loan Hero . President Joe Biden is considering eliminating the debt through executive order. Andrew Pentis, a senior writer and certified student loan counselor at Student Loan Hero, said the average monthly loan repayment in Idaho is $274. “Whether you have more or less than $10,000 worth of student loans left to repay, this dose of forgiveness would be hugely helpful, in either getting rid of your debt or shrinking it considerably,” said Pentis. “So certainly, if you’re a borrower in Idaho, you’d be rooting for something like this to happen.” The Trump administration paused federal student loan repayments in March 2020 during the pandemic.
