Brian Ballard, California Lions State Diabetes Chairperson will be hosting this event.  Brian has been a type 1 diabetic for 47 years. Brian will be speaking about how 9 million people in the United States do not know they diabetes.  Brian states, “During this time, high blood sugar impacts the kidneys, eyes and circulation, by the time they are diagnosed, the damage is done.”

Diabetes is one of the top causes of death in the United States.  Diabetes is also a major contributor to stroke, heart disease and kidney failure.

Brian states, “All of these complications can be prevented, unlike cancer.”  During the past 18 months, diabetes has been a major cause of complications for people who have been infected with Covid-19.

New technology in diabetes has helped people with the disease take better control of their condition. Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM) has revolutionized care for diabetics.  Learn about the new gold standard of care “time In range” and how it has helped so many people with the condition.

The virtual event can be seen on Zoom here.
